Curated by Associate Professor Fabia n Llonch the series features prominent architects from South America who w ill discuss their work and the unique political and environmental challeng es they face. Design Fundamental s in Nature\," will be presented by Teresa Moller\, a renowned self-taught landscape architect from Chile\, who has worked in the field for 30 years on projects throughout a broad range of scales. Essential within he r philosophy is making the natural environment accessible people so they c an connect and value nature around them. Believing strongly in the power o f simplicity\, she considers what is on site to be of utmost importance be fore starting a design\, beginning with what exists before moving on to wh at is needed in order to bring the experience of nature closer to people.\ n\n \;\n\nWedged between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Andes m ountain range to the east\, Chile is a linear country of 4\,270 km that gr eatly benefits from such contrasting landscapes and offers remarkable natu ral resources. Moller prides herself in being able to work with such a div ersity of landscapes\, from the Atacama Desert in the north to the lakes a nd glaciers of the south. These have been the settings for the majority of her projects\, and have therefore been her teachers.
