 Buildings and Energy Efficiency at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Sustainabil
 ity. In this capacity\, he is leading the city’s policy and legislative 
 efforts driving the built environment to unprecedented energy efficiency s
 tandards. John’s previous public sector service was with the NYC Departm
 ent of Buildings as Senior Architect in the codes development division\, a
 nd with the Department of City Planning where he served as an Urban Design
 er. During his early career\, John was a design architect in private secto
 r architecture firms working on institutional buildings\, transit faciliti
 es\, and master plans for universities. He is a licensed architect and a g
 raduate of Rice University and Harvard University.
