 \, is a practicing visual artist\, architect\, and Professor in Architectu
 re at the University of Waterloo and Professor of Digital Design and Archi
 tecture &amp\; Urbanism at the European Graduate School. Beesley’s work 
 is widely cited in contemporary art and architecture\, focused on the rapi
 dly expanding technology and culture of responsive and interactive systems
 . He was educated in visual art at Queen’s University\, in technology at
  Humber College\, and in archi­tecture at the University of Toronto. He s
 erves as the Director for the Living Architecture Systems Group\, and as D
 irector for Riverside Architectural Press. His Toronto-based practice Phil
 ip Beesley Architect Inc. operates in partnership with the Europe-based pr
 actice Pucher Seifert and the Waterloo-based Adaptive Systems Group\, and 
 in numerous other collaborations. Beesley frequently collaborates with art
 ists\, scientists and engineers. His research focuses on responsive and di
 stributed architectural environments and interactive systems\, flexible li
 ghtweight structures integrating kinetic functions\, microprocessing\, sen
 sor and actuator systems\, with particular focus on digital fabrication me
 thods and sheet-material derivations. His work was selected to represent C
 anada at the 2010 Venice Biennale for Architecture\, and has received dist
 inctions including the Prix de Rome\, VIDA 11.0\, FEIDAD\, Azure AZ\, and 
 Architizer A+.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAll lectures are free\, open to the public\, 
 and held at 6:30 pm in the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture
