 an de Riet is an assistant professor in the Architecture Department at Kan
 sas University School of Architecture and Design. He teaches design-build\
 , digital design and fabrication\, and architectural design with emphasis 
 on context and interface between constructed and natural environments. Pri
 or to KU he taught at Florida Atlantic University\, and his research activ
 ities intersect design\, technology and nature in the development of bioin
 spired systems. He received his doctorate in Architectural Sciences from R
 ensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a focus in Built Ecologies\, a progra
 m co-hosted by The Center for Architecture\, Science and Ecology and Skidm
 ore\, Owings and Merrill\, LLP in New York City. He received his B.Arch fr
