DESCRIPTION:Faculty Intro: Shawn Rickenbacker\, Director\, J. Max Bond Cen
 ter\; Associate Professor\n\nByron Merritt is Vice President and Global Cr
 eative Director for Nike Digital.  In this role he oversees the design\,
  development and creation of Nike’s digital experiences.  Central to t
 hat is the Nike+ ecosystem of mobile applications. \n\nPreviously\, Byron
  Merritt was Senior Creative Director and leader of Nike’s North America
  Brand design.  In this role he drove how the Nike brand came to life ac
 ross all consumer touch points -- retail\, digital\, events and brand expe
 riences. \n\nThe team he led focused on driving innovation around how the
  products Nike makes\, the services created around those products\, the pl
 aces where consumers interact with those products and services (both physi
 cal and digital)\, and the communication\, messaging and storytelling all 
 come together in a seamless experience for consumers. His work fuses marke
 ting\, design and innovation. \n\nAt Nike\, Merritt drove creative around
  the launch of the Nike+ Fuelband and was a part of the team creating th
 e product experience. Additionally\, Byron Merritt has led the developme
 nt of many Nike firsts. He was creative director for Nike’s first video 
 game Nike+ Kinect Training\, designed for the Xbox Kinect platform as well
  as new to Nike customization experiences. \n\nPrior to Nike\, Byron work
 ed at what’s been considered to be the world’s most innovative design 
 company\, IDEO in San Francisco\, CA. Byron Merritt earned a masters in ar
 chitecture at SCIArc and currently lives in Portland\, OR with his wife 
 and son. \n\n \n\nSelected Bibliography\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAll lectures are f
 ree\, open to the public\, and held at 5:30 pm in the Bernard and Anne Spi
