She is deeply comm itted to humanitarian design and has participated in Global Studio\, initi ated by the UN Millennium Project Task Force\, and spent time mapping the refugee experience along the Thailand-Burma border. Taka Sarui founded XLX S Design with Julia M. Gallagher\, with the shared goal of addressing cont emporary issues in architecture with the contrasting lenses of the human s cale (XS) and the network scale (XL).
