SUMMARY:Urban Design and MS Architecture Info Session
DESCRIPTION:\n\nLearn about the Spitzer School's post-professional programs
  for students with architecture and landscape architecture backgrounds: Ur
 ban Design (Master of Urban Planning) and MS Architecture. This session wi
 ll include overviews by program directors Nandini Bagchee and Julio Salced
 o-Fernandez\, a discussion with recent graduates\, and Q&amp\;A. Confirmed
  speakers: Shawn Rickenbacker\, Vyjayanthi Rao\, Gabriel Morales '18\, Mar
 cus Wilford '18\, Melek Kilinc '21.\n\nThe Urban Design program is newly c
 entered on participatory urbanism\, the premise that only a combination of
  leadership\, technical\, and design skills will lead to meaningful change
  in the way we think\, plan\, and construct our built environments. Buildi
 ng on the leadership of the late Michael Sorkin\, the program is specifica
 lly designed to foster new conversations in response to our urbanized plan
 etary crises and provide transformative alternatives that radically reimag
 ine our cities as equitable\, diverse\, resourceful\, and ecologically nim
 ble.\n\nThe Master of Science in Architecture post-professional program em
 braces the role of the architect in contemporary society as a politically 
 engaged\, positive agent of change. Using New York City as a laboratory\, 
 our curriculum propels students into the urban landscape to connect with s
 takeholders and to draw inspiration from the city’s teeming diversity.\n
 \nSpitzer School grad programs share a teaching\, research\, and design en
 vironment known as the unit system. Within year-long\, team-taught\, verti
 cally integrated design units\, students and professors work together to d
 efine questions and propose design solutions. Just like in the professions
 \, students synthesize diverse skills and subject areas into their project
