Master of Sustainability in the Urban Environment
🎓Open to students who hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Undergraduate degree should be in architecture, engineering, science, or a relevant social science area, though degrees in other fields will be considered.
The Master of Science in Sustainability in the Urban Environment is an interdisciplinary program offered jointly by the Spitzer School of Architecture, the Grove School of Engineering, the City College Science Division, and the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.
The program draws on the disciplines of architecture, engineering, science, and social sciences to prepare students to devise new generations of buildings, urban infrastructure, and open spaces while considering issues such as rapid urbanization and climate change. Students learn to analyze and propose solutions to sustainability and resilience challenges, and they develop leadership and teamwork skills that can help facilitate collaboration among scientists, engineers, architects, and policymakers. Students can attend in person, online, or both.
Program graduates are well prepared for positions as project managers, analysts, managers, researchers, and consultants in sectors such as green energy, water resources, air quality, land use, waste management, transportation, construction, and urban planning.
