M Arch Student Presents at Association for Community Design Conference

Avi Nagel M Arch ’19 presented at the 40th annual Association for Community Design (ACD) conference in June in Dallas, Texas. Nagel’s presentation, “NYC Million Trees, and an Open Urban Forest,” used the TreeCensus open-source database and asked for ideas on pairing cloud-based GIS integration with community participation to create more transparency in selecting planting locations. M Arch Students Present to Staten Island AIA

On June 15, students from the spring second-year M Arch I studio shared their work with the Staten Island chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Along with Professor Fabian Llonch, students presented their own projects, pointing to the great potential of the Staten Island’s Stapleton and Tompkinsville neighborhoods as sites of increased traffic and growth.

Book by Gutman Wins International Award

Professor Marta Gutman has been recognized on an international level for her urban history, A City for Children: Women, Architecture, and the Charitable Landscapes of Oakland, 1850–1950 (University of Chicago Press, 2014). The Spitzer School congratulates the class of 2017! On June 2, nearly 100 graduates were awarded degrees of Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Master of Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of Urban Planning. Continuing students winning awards and scholarships were also recognized at a separate award ceremony on June 1.
