Join us to celebrate our newest exhibit, Unfinished, winner of the 2016 Golden Lion Award at La Biennale di Venezia, and its accompanying publication. We are thrilled to have this internationally renowned show here at the Spitzer School of Architecture, the only venue it will visit in the United States! Unfinished comes to us through the generous partnerships with the Ministry of Culture, Embassy of Spain; Acción Cultural Española (AC/E); Spain Arts and Culture; Spanish Ministry of Public Works; and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Percent of Art Program.

The celebration will include a gallery talk with former Spitzer Visiting Critic and co-curator of the show Iñaqui Carnicero followed by a reception. We hope you will join us and experience this one-of-a-kind installation.

The Unfinished exhibition is a project that was originally curated for the Spanish pavilion at the Venice International Architecture Biennale 2016. The exhibition's goal is to take a look at unfinished architecture in order to discover virtues that can be turned into design strategies. During the past period of economic growth in Spain, construction became the main driving force behind the economy.  Today we find the presence of the unfinished remains of the largest constructional undertaking in history, which left behind an awkward layout and large, partially built, and unconsolidated structures. Unfinished sets out to explore creative speculations on converting a past condition into positive contemporary action. The exhibition is on view until February 8, 2019.
