Students Win Prize in Parklet Design Competition
Fourth-year B Arch students Nicole Bass and Hamees Gabr are winners of the 2021 Parklet Design Competition. Their design, “Concrete Jungle,” uses the parklet as an opportunity to increase public engagement, offering different arrangements that the user can choose from. From eating with friends to having a space to work individually, the Concrete Jungle has it all!
This competition, sponsored by Vectorworks, Inc., along with the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), asked for students to design a “parklet” — a sidewalk extension provides more space and amenities for people using the street.
