J. Max Bond Featured in Time’s Genius Issue

The late J. Max Bond Jr., dean of City College’s architecture school from 1984 to 1992, is highlighted as one of the greatest all-time geniuses in Time magazine’s Genius Issue. Architect David Adjaye cites Bond’s success and dedication, the breadth of his work on multiple continents, and his “instinct for the empowering capacity of the built environment.” Adjaye writes, “His commitment to broadening the conversation around architecture and urban design to include issues of inequality was nothing short of revolutionary.”

Bond (1935-2009) is the namesake of the Spitzer School’s research and design center and recently had a local street named in his honor.
