SSA Chair and Associate Professor June Williamson participated in the “Suburbs for Everyone” webinar for Smart Growth Online. The series is organized by the Maryland Department of Planning with the Congress for the New Urbanism and is funded by the U.S. EPA Office of Sustainable Communities. The webinar addresses how the suburbs are ground zero for many challenges facing communities, from social and economic equity to climate change. As Williamson contends, the suburbs also hold a lot of promise, but only if we can reimagine them.
