Spitzer ArchIT, led by IT Director Muhammad Ahmad, is joining big-tech companies like Google and Intel in putting its empty computer labs to good use. Computer power will be donated to COVID-19 related projects, including vaccine research through the Folding@Home app. Folding@Home pairs research labs that need extra computing power with people who have extra capacity. Christopher Urena, a CCNY OIT system administrator, introduced this endeavor to Ahmad, who sought to discover how ArchIT could be involved. ArchIT, in collaboration with OIT, is donating computing power from the CADLab and other computer labs on campus to help run heavy calculations and simulations for potential COVID-19 treatments.  ArchIT’s donation power is trackable at this link.
