SSA Chief Librarian on Diversity in Her Profession
Spitzer’s chief librarian, Nilda Sanchez-Rodriguez, published a blog entry about her research on advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the library profession. Her findings reinforce the need for measures to maximize workplace diversity through support-staff mentoring, guidance, and recruitment.
Noting that the CUNY librarian workforce has yet to be as ethnically, racially, and culturally diverse as the services they provide and the communities they serve, Professor Sanchez-Rodriguez encourages the university to promote mentorship opportunities for library paraprofessionals and student workers.
