Professor Marta Gutman will present the paper “A New Deal for New York City” in the session,“History: Influences from the Past, The Big Picture: Large-Scale Developments in NYC” at the AIA-ASLA-APA Conference. The conference will take place at New York City’s Center for Architecture on Friday September 13, 2019.
This summer, a group of ten undergraduate and graduate students traveled to Berlin, Germany, for Spitzer’s Summer Abroad program. The course is coordinated annually by Associate Professor Christian Volkmann and this year was taught by Ahu Aydogan and Yee Lin. Professor Frank Melendez‘s start-up, bioMATTERS, will exhibit its 3D wall system, Meander Series, at the 2019 London Design Festival. Meander Series, which will be part of the festival’s Biodesign Here and Now exhibition, has a dual performative function: it provides a solution for sound sensitive environments and improves indoor air quality. The exhibition runs September 19-22
Incoming dean Lesley Lokko is featured in an Architect’s Newspaper interview of new leaders at U.S. architecture schools. Discussing the Spitzer School in relation to her current university in Johannesburg, she commented, “Both places have a desire to say what has previously remained unsaid: that issues of class, race, gender, and power are central to
