Conceived by co-founders John Cetra, Spitzer School of Architecture alumnus, and Nancy J. Ruddy, together with Master of Architecture faculty at the Spitzer School, the CetraRuddy Design Studio in Housing started in Spring 2017 and extended for five semesters. Goals included bridging academia and practice, building on a shared ambition to address the challenges and opportunities associated with housing design in New York City. CetraRuddy’s generous contribution of knowledge, time, and resources deepened student engagement with the issue of housing in New York City, and more broadly, expanded their horizons as aspiring young professionals. The studios focused on the design of multi-unit housing, a core area of architectural design and practice.
