Please join us for our special filmed presentation, The Rolex Conversations. The filmed conversation between Sir David Adjaye, Niger-born architect Mariam Kamara, and Dean Lokko took place at the Rolex Weekend in Cape Town. This film has been generously made available to the Spitzer School of Architecture by the Rolex Foundation. The Rolex Arts Weekend, a series of public events -- talks, readings, exhibitions and performances, including two world premieres -- was held in Cape Town, South Africa, on February 8 and 9 this year. Celebrating the work of the 2018-2019 protégés of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative with their mentors, the two-day celebration was the culmination of the current cycle of the program, which pairs master artists with emerging artists in several disciplines for a period of creative exchange in a one-to-one mentoring relationship.
Architecture Spotlight: protégée Mariam Kamara, from Niger, and mentor, Ghanaian-born British architect Sir David Adjaye, presented their plans for a new cultural centre in Niamey, Niger’s capital. The discussion was moderated by Ghanaian-Scottish architect Lesley Lokko, Dean of the Spitzer School of Architecture. https://www.rolex.org/rolex-mentor-protege.
