The City College ASLA-NY Student Chapter is hosting its 4th annual Rising Urbanist conference. This year our students are presenting Uncovering NYC, a ground-breaking video-conference format tailored for 2021.

Every place has a story. A legacy derived from the geology, flora, and fauna which is braided into the history of humans and their alterations on the land. As Landscape Architects we are charged with uncovering these stories in order to design a future that weaves together the lessons of the past, the people of the present, and the hope that in the future we lift the voices of the communities we design for and stop erasing them.

In this series we will speak to experts and professionals around New York City to reveal the erased stories reflected in our landscape.

What natural systems have been buried? Where have the non-human fauna gone? How do we promote equality through landscape? Who is telling the story?

Join us and learn how the past has informed our current landscape and develop strategies for building a healthier, more just, and more sustainable tomorrow.
