Eric Sanderson, author of the national bestseller Mannahatta: A Natural History of New York City, discusses the consequences of Gotham's development on the environment, and how we might restore the estuary's ecology. ​Denise Hoffman Brandt, director of the graduate program for landscape architecture at the Spitzer School (City College), shares her thoughts on the limits of "sustainability," and recommendations for a greener Big Apple. Nilda Mesa, director of urban sustainability and equity planning at Columbia University's Earth Institute, reflects on her experiences as NYC’s first Director of Sustainability in the Mayor's office, and the political challenges ahead. Janet Babin, Economic Development Reporter for WNYC, moderates.
