Dean Lokko to Chair Conversation between Sir David Adjaye and Mariam Kamara
The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, which sees six world-renowned figures in art, architecture, dance, music, literature, theater and the visual arts mentor a protégé for a year, will culminate in a weekend series of talks in Cape Town in February 2020. The Architecture Spotlight features protégée Mariam Kamara, originally from Niger, and Ghanaian-born British mentor, architect Sir David Adjaye, who presents their plans for a new cultural centre in Niamey, Niger’s capital. The discussion, moderated by Ghanaian-Scottish architect Lesley Lokko, Dean of Architecture at CCNY, is followed by the official opening of the exhibition, Public Realm Along the Niger River, Niamey. The architecture installation is available for public viewing in the Baxter’s foyer until the end of February.
