Welcome to the 2022-23 academic year! There is a lot to look forward to, and many ways to get involved!

Spitzer School students, faculty, and staff convened in person for Convocation on August 25, a final milestone in the transition to fully reopening. View the presentation here.

Dean Marta Gutman led the event, starting with introductions, celebrations, facilities and event updates, and, together with Associate Dean Michael Miller, an overview of ongoing justice work at the school. Kedishia Joseph B Arch ’23 spoke about the Spitzer Commons website, Changemaker Scholars Dave Hardy M Arch ’24 and Helly Kamdar MS Arch ’23 introduced their respective initiatives, and Lorraine Colbert B Arch ’24 and Anthony Thayer B Arch ’26 announced the new organization Black @ SSA. Chair Sean Weiss highlighted new faculty, gave a tribute to a professor who is retiring, provided context for the Hour SSA studio discussions, and promoted the semester’s faculty lunchtime lectures. Architecture Library Chief Nilda Sanchez Rodriguez spoke about visual appropriation / visual plagiarism and how to avoid it.
