On Friday 19 September, ten first-year MLA students participated in the 2014 Park(ing) Day festivities, a daylong, international “happening” in which people transform parking spaces into temporary public space. With support from the NY Chapter of the American Association of Landscape Architecture, the students converted two spaces in West Harlem, one focused on reflective power
On 3 March 2015, David Christie, Specialist in the Print Collection at the New York Public Library, led a workshop on rare architecture books and prints for students in Assistant Professor Sean Weiss’ seminar on the History of Architectural Representation.
Adjunct Professor Jonathan Scelsa, along with students Lenny Chen, Roman Hat- nyansky, Dorota Kowalska, Kseniya Linov, Nick Napoli, Hector Santacruz, and Eliza Tan, designed and built the HY-Bol Pavilion, a multi-purpose seating bench and shelving unit in the summer 2014 fabrication course. The pavilion, currently on display on the SSA’s third-floor, was designed in Grasshopper
Third-year B.Arch. student Shereese Trumpet was awarded the AIA NY Chapter’s annual Heritage Ball Scholarship in 2014.
In collaboration with MLA students, Associate Professor Denise Hoffman-Brandt created the installation entitled Red Carpet Encrypted at the Omi International Arts Center in Ghent, NY. The 1/4-acre lot installation was completed in spring 2014 and will be on exhibit through spring 2015.
