Spitzer Team’s Green Capsule Startup Vies for Zahn Prize
Green Capsule is an innovative design of building-integrated medicinal cannabis systems to provide myriad benefits including reducing the building’s energy consumption. The cannabis wall is a modular system, grown vertically using hydroponics, on structures that can be either free-standing or attached to walls. The design concept originated from a Fall 2019 Advanced Studio at Spitzer directed by professor Ahu Aydogan with architecture students Swara Desai (MS ’21), Melek Kilinc (MS ’21), and Max Isakov (B Arch ’19). Isakov and Kilinc together with Ina Dajci (B Arch ’19) and Rei Celo (MArch II ’20) are now on a startup team working with the college’s Zahn Innovation Center. The project is a semifinalist for the Standard Chartered Women+Tech4NYC $25,000 grand prize.
