Women In Practice (WIP) Featured in Cultured Magazine

Adjunct Associate Professor Lindsay Harkema is the founder of feminist design collective WIP (Work In Progress | Women In Practice) and a founding member of WIP Collaborative, recently featured in the digital and print Winter 2021 issue of Cultured Magazine. WIP Collaborative is a shared practice of independent designers to work together on research and design projects that engage community and the public realm. Earlier this year, WIP Collaborative completed their first built project, Restorative Ground, an inclusive public streetscape in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. The project was also the initial built outcome of WIP’s ongoing research and design for neurodiversity, sensory sensitivity, and emotionality in the urban public realm. The article connects these values to their alternative approach to architectural practice rooted in democratic collaboration and interdisciplinarity, rather than singular authorship.
