Prof. Harkema’s Collaborative Practice Selected for 2023 AIANY New Perspectives Award
AIA New York has selected WIP Collaborative as the winner of the 2023 New Perspectives Award that celebrates individuals or collectives who, through their recent work, take unique, critical positions that contribute to the broader understanding of architecture. Adjunct Associate Professor Lindsay Harkema is a founding member of WIP Collaborative, a shared practice of independent design professionals focused on design and research projects that engage communities and the public realm. WIP was founded on feminist principles in February 2020 and supports those who eschew patriarchal conventions, defining new narratives of architectural and design practice through their work.
WIP Collaborative is the second recipient of this award. The WIP Collaborative team of honorees includes Harkema and other founding members: Abby Coover, Bryony Roberts, Elsa Ponce (who also teaches at the Spitzer School), Ryan Brooke Thomas, Sera Ghadaki, and Sonya Gimon. The honorees will be celebrated at the AIA New York Honors and Awards Luncheon on April 20.
